Seen in the City: Committee Kickoff Social

More than 80 Committee members gathered at Cadillac Bar this past Sunday at the Houston Marathon Committee’s annual Committee Kickoff Social. Board of Directors, staff and Commitee members mixed and mingled over fajitas and drinks to kickoff the 2012 race seasson. Committee members also received an “In Training” T-shirt that can also be yours at the Run for a Reason Kickoff Party on Sept. 22 – RSVP on Facebook and check out the details here!

It takes a lot of planning to put on an event of this magnitude, and with a full-time staff of 10, we depend on dedicated volunteers to make our event a success.

The Houston Marathon race weekend of events would not be what it is today without the help of our Committee – this dedicated group of 128 volunteers work hard for months to prepare for our event on top of their regular full-time jobs! We are fortunate to have a great core group of Committee members – we cannot thank you enough!

This year’s race weekend will be action-packed with both the Houston Marathon’s 40th anniversary running and the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon taking place the day before.

You can be a part of the excitement by joining the 2012 Race Crew! Click here to volunteer for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon, and keep an eye out for Race Crew information for the 40th anniversary Houston Marathon on our website in mid-October.

Thank you to all of our runners and volunteers, past and present, who make the Houston Marathon the nation’s premier winter race. We look forward to seeing you in January 2012!

Is there any way to get the Run for a Reason training shirt if we don’t live in the area and can’t make it to the kick off party?
